Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is an British and American sitar player. She also plays music. She was also the first and youngest woman to win an award from the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Sitar Shankar, one of the Indian young sitar star. She is Ravi Shankar's student, and the daughter of Ravi Shankar. Born in London in 1982, and spent her early years shuttling between London as well as New Delhi. The first time she performed was at New Delhi at the tender age of thirteen. After moving to Encinitas, California in 1999, she was awarded an honorary high school diploma. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman but she has a very impressive career in music and performance. She is often seen performing with her dad and has performed with him for quite a number of years. She released her first self-titled album Anourag in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years later than her first solo album. Her stage career is very broad as she's appeared in all of the biggest venues in the world. Anoushka's career does not only include musical performances. She published Bapi, the Heart of My Life, in 2002. The book is a biographical work that is a tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was an Bharat natyam young dancer in Dance Like a Man. The career of Anoushka Shankar is in the process of developing and she'll continue to achieve great success in the coming years. Anoushka lived a long her time in London and Delhi during her young years. Later, she moved to California to finish high school. Anoushka started her music studies at the age of nine. After four years she performed her sitar debut in Delhi for her father's 70th birthday party. As a part of her dad's band as his world tour, Anoushka was able to accumulate a variety of performances in Carnegie Hall while still in her teens performing at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival as well as making recordings alongside George Harrison. She was the youngest woman to receive the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament to recognize her musicianship and artistry within music and the Asian Arts.
